IT WAS one of the feel-good stories of the truncated 2020 NAB AFLW season, but there could be another chapter added to the Sarah Perkins story.
The power forward has nominated for the Queensland portion of the state-based NAB AFLW Draft, with industry sources linking the 27-year-old with Gold Coast.

Perkins played for Adelaide from 2017 to 2019 (kicking 13 goals in 17 games), before falling out of favour and returning to her home town of Melbourne, lining up for Hawthorn in the VFLW.
An injury-ravaged Melbourne brought Perkins in from the cold in round five this year, upon which she played three games for the Demons as a top-up player and booted three goals.
Due to her injury-replacement status, Melbourne did not have rights to re-sign Perkins, and she has to go through the draft in order to re-join an AFLW list.
Gold Coast had an impressive debut season but struggled at times to put a score on the board, with All-Australian mid-sized forward Kalinda Howarth the main path to goal.
Co-captain Leah Kaslar – previously a key defender – was employed as a focal point. While competitive in the air, crashing packs and bringing the ball to ground, she did not kick a major in the Suns' seven matches.
Having delisted a number of players during last month's trade period, Gold Coast has six selections in the draft on October 6, while Brisbane has just three.

Due to the part-time nature of the AFLW competition, the draft is a state-based affair, limiting the need for interstate moves for players who have work and study commitments.
