JUST two teams remain undefeated after four rounds of the NAB AFLW season, with Fremantle and Collingwood a game clear at the top of the ladder.

Melbourne blew chance after chance against the Dogs, it was close but no cigar for the Tigers, the Crows got back on the winners list while the Saints recorded their equal-highest score.

• Carlton 8.3 (51) defeated Richmond 7.4 (46). The Tigers' hunt for that elusive first win continues, but they put in a stunning performance against the Blues, who rose to the occasion with a steely resolve after quarter-time.

ST KILDA 7.9 (51) def. GEELONG 3.4 (22)

• The Saints recorded their equal-highest score on Friday night, tying with their round one effort from earlier this year. Caitlin Greiser (three goals) capitalised on some sharp ball movement from Tyanna Smith and Georgia Patrikios, while Rhi Watt dictated terms in the middle of the ground.
• The one positive for Geelong was recording its highest score of the season, but the side still only kicked three goals. The Cats had just two fewer inside 50s and actually took one more mark inside their arc, but were unable to convert in the same way as the Saints.

CARLTON 8.3 (51) def. RICHMOND 7.4 (46)

• Carlton were shellshocked in the first term, and it took a rocket address from coach Daniel Harford to kick the Blues into gear. Darcy Vescio played one of her best games in the past few years, a continual threat in attack, while Maddy Prespakis and Grace Egan were influential in the middle. Prespakis will have a nervous wait after laying a rough tackle on former teammate Sarah Hosking.
• That first win is creeping closer by the week for Richmond. In comfortably its best ever performance, Monique Conti was playing on a different level to most players and was effective and creative with her disposal. Katie Brennan hit the scoreboard for the first time this year, while key forward Courtney Wakefield's importance to the team cannot be undersold.

FREMANTLE 7.13 (55) def. GOLD COAST 1.0 (6)

• It was a tale of two halves, with Fremantle piling on 6.7 after the main break. The Dockers flexed their considerable muscle, dominating the inside-50 count (31-13) and taking an impressive 10 marks inside 50, despite the presence of strong Suns defenders Jade Pregelj and Lauren Ahrens.
• Coach David Lake didn't mince words after the game, saying his side was "lazy" in its two-way running. Leah Kaslar kicked her second career goal in the first term, but it was all purple on the scoreboard from that point forward. Just six inside-50s after quarter-time made it near impossible to score.

NORTH MELBOURNE 0.8 (8) def. by COLLINGWOOD 4.4 (28)

• The Roos sunk to their lowest ebb in their short but strong AFLW history, failing to kick a goal and comfortably recording their lowest score (previous was 20). They competed well in contested ball but were well beaten on the outside. The positive was holding the Pies to 28.
• Collingwood put the AFLW on notice with this performance, with the powerful midfield trio of Brianna Davey, Jaimee Lambert and Britt Bonnici well and truly hitting their stride. The class of Chloe Molloy up forward added some polish to the scoreboard, while Stacey Livingstone's strong form continued in defence. 

BRISBANE 5.3 (33) def. by ADELAIDE 6.9 (45)

• Craig Starcevich would have been pleased with his side's response after quarter-time, the Lions roared back after the Crows got the early jump. Orla O'Dwyer was a standout on the wing, running hard both ways, while vice-captain Bree Koenen stood tall in defence.
• There were a few hairy moments in the fourth quarter where it looked like Adelaide's inaccurate kicking for goal would once again come back to haunt, but the weight of numbers prevailed in the end. Erin Phillips is proving to be a wildcard (surprise, surprise), attending centre bounces and then threatening close to goal.

WESTERN BULLDOGS 6.1 (37) def. MELBOURNE 2.12 (24)

• A third straight victory for the Doggies, their best run since the end of 2018 and start of 2019 (four wins). They were economical going forward with seven scoring shots from 19 inside 50s, with Izzy Huntington and Jess Fitzgerald showing talent and composure beyond their years.
• On stats alone, Melbourne should have won this game and won it comfortably. The Dees had double the scoring shots, inside 50s and clearances, but squandered chance after chance. Karen Paxman's hot 2021 has continued, but this result will probably come back to bite Melbourne.

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY 7.6 (48) def. WEST COAST 4.4 (28)

• Two on the trot for the Giants, who have been loving life back home in Sydney. Cora Staunton shone with four goals as the GWS forwards feasted, taking nine marks inside 50, recording the team's second-highest score ever. The Giants won the disposal count, the clearances, contested possessions and inside-50 count in a comprehensive display.
• West Coast recorded its highest score for the year, and second-best overall (30 in its sole win last year), but just ran out of puff after a second straight away trip to the other side of the country. The Eagles dominated early in a free-wheeling affair, but struggled after the Giants put the defensive clamps on.
