THE CITY of Melbourne will be charged with coral in the lead up to the opening round of the 2023 NAB AFLW Season, with 11 iconic buildings illuminated in the colour. 

The 2023 NAB AFLW Season kicks off on Friday September 1 with Melbourne hosting Collingwood at IKON Park. 

Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, Rod Laver Arena, The Arts Centre, and the NGV are some of the 11 buildings which will light up in the AFLW’s iconic colour.

Fans can visit the following monuments, which will be illuminated in the colour coral. 

  • Old Treasury Building – 31 August and 1 September 

  • Arts Centre Melbourne – 31 August and 1 September 

  • NGV – 31 August and 1 September 

  • MCEC – 31 August and 1 September 

  • Rod Laver Arena – 31 August and 1 September 

  • ACMI – 1 September

  • Flinders Street Station - 1 September 

  • Bolte Bridge - 1 September 

  • CityLink Sound Tube - 1 September 

  • John Cain Arena – 1 September 

  • Federation Square – 1 September

AFL Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone OAM said she was excited for the city to be illuminated in AFLW’s colour of coral.  

“The momentum we’ve seen for women’s sport has been truly inspiring and we hope the support for our athletes continues into the 2023 NAB AFLW season,” Livingstone said. 

“To have the sporting capital of the world illuminated in coral will be an amazing sight and will build anticipation for the opening round. 

“On behalf of the AFL, we would like to thank the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne for showing their support for AFLW and women’s football.”
