THE AFL is pleased to announce that the upcoming AFLW Practice Matches will be free to attend for all fans.

The Practice Matches will run from Friday, August 16 to Sunday August 18 with Match Simulation Training the weekend prior.

It will be the first opportunity for fans to see their new-look teams ahead of the 2024 NAB AFLW Season, which kicks off on Friday, August 30 with the Sydney Swans hosting Collingwood at North Sydney Oval.

Practice Matches will be live-streamed on club websites.

AFL Executive General Manager of Football Laura Kane said she was looking forward to the upcoming Practice Matches and Match Simulation Trainings.

"The AFL are really excited for the upcoming 2024 NAB AFLW Season. A lot of work has gone into preparing for this season and anticipation is sky-high. I can’t wait to see my first glimpse of the competition before the opening week at the end of August," Ms. Kane said.

"I encourage all fans to get to the games and catch a sneak peek of your new teams, coaches, draftees, players and game-plans – all for free!"

Four clubs will all enter a new phase under new senior coaches – Sam Wright at the Pies, Daniel Webster at the Hawks, Daisy Pearce at the Eagles and Tamara Hyett at the Dogs.

31 players moved clubs during the 2023 AFLW Sign and Trade period, including an 11-club trade on the final day that saw 12 players and 24 picks exchanged.

Teams will be announced by the AFL at 5.30pm AEST the day before each Practice Match.
