STAR Carlton forward Tayla Harris' bid for the Australian middleweight boxing title on Saturday won't get in the way of her pre-season commitments.
Unlike most other players, Harris doesn't transition to state league footy after the conclusion of the NAB AFLW season at the end of March, instead focusing on boxing.
The 21-year-old has won all four of her professional bouts, which is culminating in Saturday's title fight at Melbourne Pavilion against Sarah Dwyer.
Carlton officially return to the track on Monday and Harris will be alongside her teammates, including new recruits Kirby Bentley and Millie Barden, and highly ranked draftees Maddy Prespakis and Abbie McKay.
Due to the part-time nature of the competition, multi-sport players often juggle commitments over summer.
North Melbourne recruit and competition best and fairest Emma Kearney has previously split her time between footy and cricket but has decided to focus solely on the oval ball this summer.
Teammate Jess Duffin is still playing cricket (for Queensland in the one-day competition and Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash League), while Adelaide forward Jenna McCormick has decided to only play the first half of the W-League season with Brisbane Roar.
Young Bulldogs half-forward Monique Conti, who was awarded best on ground in the 2018 Grand Final, spends a lot of her summer playing basketball for the Melbourne Boomers.
It will be Harris' second year in the navy blue after crossing from Brisbane at the end of the 2017 AFLW season.
She kicked five goals from six games in 2018 and was named on the interchange bench in the All Australian team.
