Collingwood’s Chloe Molloy and GWS Giants’ Rebecca Beeson are the Round One NAB AFL Women’s’ Rising Star nominees.
Selection three in the 2017 NAB AFL Women’s Draft, Collingwood’s Chloe Molloy starred in the back line collecting 20 disposals in her clubs eight-point loss to Carlton at Ikon Park on Friday.
New to the back line, Molloy showcased her ability to read the play well under pressure, moving the ball across the back line with an 80 percent disposal efficiency.
Molloy had a standout year in 2017 where she was the TAC Cup Girls leading goal kicker, finished the season as VFLW Rising Star, joint winner of the TAC Cup Girls best-and-fairest and was selected to be part of the Team of the Year in both the TAC Cup Girls and VFLW competitions.
GWS Giants Rebecca Beeson collected 11 possessions in her club’s loss to Melbourne on Saturday.
Hailing from the UNSW-ES Stingrays, Beeson pushed for draft selection after being named the league’s leading goalkicker in 2016 and was picked up with the Giants third selection.
Managing to collect an average of 10.4 disposals in the seven games Beeson played in 2017, she has proved herself to be a damaging forward target.

All AFLW players 21 years and under as at 1 January 2018 and who have not previously been nominated as a rising star qualify for consideration for the award.
Two players will be nominated each week of the NAB AFL Women’s season. Each of the 14 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star nominees throughout the season will be awarded $500 prize money from NAB to acknowledge their great achievement. In addition, NAB will continue to support the development of future footy stars by awarding junior clubs of each nominee with a NAB Club Recognition Award pack of practical and financial resources, valued at over $2500.
The overall NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star winner will be awarded $20,000 from NAB and a private banker to assist with securing their financial future.
