2020 in a nutshell: Safe to say it was a tough debut season for Richmond, failing to win a game from its six matches and losing coach Tom Hunter during the off-season. The Tigers showed glimpses at times, with their mid-season match against Geelong a high-scoring highlight, but they just simply didn't win enough of the footy. The season ended on a low, scoring just three points against fellow first-year side St Kilda.

New players: Sarah D'Arcy, Sarah Dargan (Collingwood), Sarah Hosking (Carlton, pictured below), Harriet Cordner (Melbourne), Ellie McKenzie, Tessa Lavey, Luka Lesosky-Hay (draft), Hannah McLaren (injury replacement)

Circle it: Round one will be the first official AFLW match held at Punt Road Oval, while round four will see former star Dogs Katie Brennan and Monique Conti play their old side for the first time. Round two against fellow struggler West Coast looms as a good opportunity for the Tigers to record their first ever AFLW win.

Player to watch: All eyes will be on No.1 draft pick Ellie McKenzie, who is set to get a lot of game time for the Tigers in 2021. A tall midfielder who can push forward, she has elite disposal and strong hands overhead.

Best Rising Star chance: Ellie McKenzie

2021 prediction: With four steady and experienced recruits over the off-season, the Tigers should be in better shape in their second season. They should get that prized first victory after a winless inaugural season. It probably won't be a rapid rise up the ladder in 2021, but steady improvement should be the aim for the season.
