NO MATTER how hard Ellie McKenzie tried to silence that little voice in the back of her head at three-quarter time, she couldn't quite shut it up.
Richmond was leading Geelong by 40 points at the last change, and the side was on the cusp of winning its first ever AFLW game.
The Tigers had lost their previous 10 attempts, and the relief was palpable.
"We had in the back of our mind that we were probably going to win that game," McKenzie told the Credit to the Girls podcast.
"But a big focus for us throughout that game and our previous games was trying to put in a four-quarter effort and putting our foot down on the pedal and making sure we finished the game off the way we wanted. There was still a job to do."

The No.1 pick in last year's NAB AFLW Draft has quickly found her feet at the top level, coming up against some of the premier midfielders in the competition.
"Getting used to the bigger bodies (has been the biggest adjustment)," McKenzie said.
"Coming from the NAB League, I was probably one of the taller ones, so it was a bit different coming in where everyone was pretty much the same size as me, if not bigger.
"Initially it was a bit scary lining up on some big midfielders like Bri Davey and Emily Bates, so that was something I had to get used to, but the coaches have backed me in with my strength, so I feel confident I can take it to them now."
