Teah Charlton

With a quality forward line around her led by captain Chelsea Randall, Teah Charlton adds some spark. The 18-year-old kicked the first two goals of her fledgling career against St Kilda – with the first one particularly memorable. Hemmed in the left forward pocket, Charlton shrugged a defender before splitting the sticks from a tight angle. She followed up with another goal minutes later with a steady finish on the run following a nice build-up by Danielle Ponter and Ashleigh Woodland. Charlton is quick and agile and gathered eight disposals to go with three tackles. - Michael Whiting

Sophie Conway

It is the under-22 group driving improvement at Brisbane and young jet Sophie Conway is at the forefront, but her game is developing in ways that significantly benefit the team. Against Fremantle, it was her ability to push back into defence and start the Lions' chain of attack with four rebound 50s that most pleased her coach. The 21-year-old also had a game-high two centre clearances from her 13 possessions (seven contested). After missing the 2019 season with a ruptured ACL, Conway rebounded in 2020 and has this season played every game and averaged 14 disposals. - Nathan Schmook

Mua Laloifi

The Carlton defender was sorely missed in round two when she was sidelined with concussion, but her intercepting powers have been on show since her return. Laloifi was involved in everything against North Melbourne, reading the play well and standing firm in a defence that was well and truly under pressure. The 27-year-old former Samoan basketball representative finished the game with 14 disposals, eight intercepts and seven contested possessions - Sarah Black

Mikala Cann

It's easy to see why the Pies forward has earned the nickname "Bull". The 20-year-old is one of the Pies' most fearless attackers of the football and was rewarded on Sunday against Melbourne with her second goal of the NAB AFL Women's season. Cann finished with 14 disposals and has added an improved offensive side to her game this season built off a strong pre-season after making her name as a tackling machine in her first two years in the competition. - Mitch Cleary

Matilda Sergeant

Previously a midfielder/winger, Sargeant played on tall Brisbane forward Dakota Davidson and kept her scoreless and to five disposals while giving away a significant height advantage to her opponent. The Dockers' defenders kept their team in the game until the last two minutes and Sargeant was arguably the best of them. Didn’t play in 2020 and has had a rough run for 18 months with a hip injury and concussion, but is now a regular with the ability to play a variety of positions and make good decisions. - Nathan Schmook  

Millie Brown

The father-daughter selection was called up for her first game since round one after recovering from hamstring soreness and finished with 10 disposals, four marks and a tackle in the disappointing loss to Richmond. After impressing in her debut season last year, Brown can again hold her head up high and will be an important cog in the Cats' defence for years to come. - Chris Correia

Madison Levi

The imposing young key position player had an 'almost' day against West Coast and showed enough to indicate she has a big future in the game. Levi missed three shots at goal she'd like to have again, but goalkicking aside, her presence around the ground was a major part of Gold Coast's never-say-die fight. When the 18-year-old tackles, she does so with intent. She laid six tackles against the Eagles to go with seven disposals and seven hitouts as a back-up ruck to Lauren Bella. The former Australian rugby sevens junior representative is getting better every week. - Michael Whiting

Taylah Davies

Now into her third season with the Giants after switching netball for footy, Davies is starting to become a consistent contributor in attack. Key to everything the Giants did well in terms of locking the ball inside 50 throughout the game's early stages, Davies wasn't rewarded with a goal following what might have been her best performance to date. She won eight disposals and laid three tackles, giving the sense that a breakout display might be on its way soon. - Riley Beveridge

Lauren Pearce

The Demons ruck continues to go from strength-to-strength after a persistent knee injury limited her to just two games in 2020. Pearce had superb duel with Pies counterpart Sharni Norder on Sunday and finished with 15 disposals, 10 hitouts and the Demons' only major for the afternoon. The 2019 All-Australian showcased her mobility in the passage for her first goal of the season – and fourth in her career – by taking an intercept mark in front of Norder and finishing on the run from 35m.

Aileen Gilroy

The Irishwoman has taken to football like a duck to water. Last year she was a strong intercept player who made life difficult for her opponent, but her rebound game has come along in leaps and bounds in her second season. Gilroy was a constant threat against Carlton, recording a game-high 429 metres gained, 16 disposals and five marks. Such was the power of her running, she also had two inside-50s despite playing as a defender, and even unleashed a torp at one point in the match - Sarah Black

Ellie McKenzie

There's no wonder why Ellie McKenzie was taken with the No.1 pick in last year's NAB AFLW Draft. She, along with the Tigers, have continued to improve as the season has rolled on and her class and composure was on show in the history-making win against Geelong. McKenzie finished with 16 disposals, five marks and a goal and surely gets a NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination this week. - Chris Correia

Tarni White

As a flood of inside 50s rained on the heads of St Kilda's defenders, Tarni White was one of a number of players that stood tall. The 20-year-old continued a fine season following her ruptured ACL in 2020, gathering 15 disposals (four intercepts) and six marks. She showed a good head with ball in hand, targeting teammates expertly as the Saints repeatedly tried to escape danger. White showed poise beyond her years. - Michael Whiting

Mikayla Bowen 

The lightning young midfielder continued a fine second season with a breakout performance against the Suns. Bowen got her day going late in the first quarter when she exploded clear with four bounces after receiving the ball on the defensive side of centre. Her long kick to the top of the goalsquare resulted in a Grace Kelly goal. The 19-year-old finished with 21 disposals and kicked the match-sealing goal midway through the last term. She mixed dash with courage, dropping back to take a brave intercept mark when West Coast needed it late in the third term. - Michael Whiting

Elisabeth Georgostathis

It was an exciting display from the talented teenager, who is starting to find the footy more consistently and was among the brightest Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. Georgostathis won 10 disposals, the fourth time in five games she has managed double-digit touches this season, complementing the grunt of star captain Ellie Blackburn nicely in the midfield. She also added some competitiveness and physicality of her own in the onball unit, putting her body in numerous tough situations and finishing with a career-high nine tackles. - Riley Beveridge
