WESTERN AUSTRALIA 

East Fremantle got its first win of the season and held Subiaco goalless in a 44-point win. Both Peel Thunder and Swan Districts remained undefeated going into round three and they faced off under lights on Saturday night. It was the Swans who kept their unbeaten run alive, knocking off the reigning premiers by 28 points, while Claremont notched its second win one of the season with a 51-point win over South Fremantle.

AFLW-listed players 

Evie Gooch returned for East Fremantle for the first time to try push her case for re-selection in the Dockers' line up.

Alex Williams and Ann McMahon continued to find form after returning to footy after injuries, while Beatrice Devlyn battled hard for Subiaco, kicking the Lions' lone score of the day.

After being dropped from the Dockers' line-up for round six, Ashley Sharp found herself in the best for the victorious Swan Districts, while Fremantle teammate Mikayla Morrison starred with four goals in the big win.

For the Eagles Sophie McDonald kicked a goal in Claremont’s big win over South Fremantle.

State league players 

Former AFLW-listed players Kate Bartlett and Cassie Davidson were in the best for Peel Thunder. Bartlett kicked three goals after her bag of four the week before.

Emily Mcguire was among the best for Swan Districts and Sarah Garstone was also involved in Claremont’s win.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA 

Norwood got its first win of the SANFL Women’s with a 21-point win over South Adelaide. Central Districts were handed their first defeat of the season by Sturt in a two-point thriller at Hisense Stadium, while another close game saw North Adelaide continue undefeated after two rounds with a five-point win over Glenelg. West Adelaide was too good for Woodville-West Torrens Eagles, leading the game in its entirety to come away as 26-point winners.

AFLW-listed players 

Montana McKinnon was in the best for South Adelaide, dominating in the ruck with 15 hitouts and leading all disposal getters with 19.

Chelsea Biddell and Madison Newman played a part in West Adelaide’s win over the Eagles, each kicking a goal and finished with 16 and 12 disposals respectively.

Their Crows teammate Renne Forth led the disposals on the day with 22 and showed her class with seven marks and five rebound 50s for West Torrens.

State league players 

Former Crow Jaimi Tabb laid a massive 12 tackles for North Adelaide while 2020 Team Hatchard representative Brooke Tonon lead Glenelg with 20 disposals.

Zoe Venning was the highest disposal winner of the weekend with 25 and she also kicked a goal in West Adelaide’s win over the Eagles.

Katelyn Rosenzweig made the most of her opportunities kicking 1.3 from 13 disposals while Alysha Healy kicked the winning goal for Sturt.

Nicole Campbell, another former Crow, had 18 disposals and six tackles in South Adelaide’s win.

QUEENSLAND 

A goal in the final minute by Gabrielle Deller gave Bond University the win over Coorparoo. Aspley are now two from two after not winning a game in all of 2020, with a 41-point win over Coolangatta Tweed. The University of Queensland overcame Maroochydore in another close clash and Yeronga South Brisbane thrashed Wilson Grange in a high scoring affair.

AFLW-listed players 

Sun Molly Ritson kicked the first goal of the day and ended in the best for Bond University, while teammate Emma Pittman also scored a goal and got the votes for her performance for Coorparoo in her return from an ACL.

The Lions' Beth Pinchin, who was signed on the eve of the 2021 season, pushed for her debut with a best-on-ground performance for Coolangatta. Teammate Selina Priest also impressed with Coolangatta, being named among the best too.

Zimmorlei Farqharson, the Lions' first pick in last years draft, starred with two goals and votes in Yeronga’s win over Wilson Grange. Jordan Zanchetta also found herself among the best after her performance in the midfield for Yeronga.

Rheann Lugg kicked two goals for Wilson Grange and Ruby Svarc, the sister of Cathy Svarc, also put her hand up for a debut with the Lions.

State league players 

Courtney Dainec, who has been a train-on player at the Lions and North, kicked a goal and featured in the votes for Aspley.

Former Lion Brianna McFarlane starred for Maroochydore while Julia Dawson was deemed best on ground in University’s win.

Lexia Edwards took her goal tally to five for the season after kicking four in Yeronga’s win over Wilson Grange.

VICTORIA

Collingwood continued remain undefeated with a 22-point win over the Southern Saints, Geelong returned to the winners list with a convincing 40-point win over Williamstown and Essendon got its first win of the season in blustery conditions at Casey by nine points. North Melbourne was too good for the Bulldogs, notching its first-ever VFLW win by 21 points, Bec Goddard got her first win as the coach of Hawthorn with a 23-point result over Darebin, while Richmond affiliate Port Melbourne continued its winning start to the season with a dominant 44-point win over Carlton.

AFLW-listed players 

Amelia Velardo played a key role off half-back for the Pies while Maddie Shevlin continued to show her impressive speed and ball use in her return from a broken wrist.

Kristy Stratton battled in the midfield all day for Collingwood as did Alice Burke who won 15 touches for the Southern Saints. But the Saints will be hoping for the best for signing Rebecca Ott who went down with a leg injury in the second quarter.

Steph Williams and Maddie Boyd were back in the Cats' VFLW line-up after being omitted for round six. Williams got on the board with two goals while Boyd was forced to take on the ruck (17 hitouts) after an injury to Cats ruck Olivia Fuller early in the game.

Georgia Clarke also impressed for Geelong, kicking a goal and winning the votes with her 20-disposal game.

Maggie Caris pushed for a debut in round seven with 31 hitouts in the ruck for Casey while Mietta Kendall played well off half-back notching up 19 disposals.

North Melbourne’s first ever win came off the back of a three-goal performance by Alice O’Loughlin and a tough performance by Beth Lynch who finished with 18 disposals. Katelyn Cox also starred in the midfield in North’s historic win.

Britney Gutknecht followed up her round one best-on-ground performance with 24 disposals and another solid performance for the Bulldogs while Nell Morris-Dalton was a strong target up forward finishing the day with a goal.

It was Laura McCelland, Emily Harley (two goals) and Luka Lesosky-Hays (one) who helped Port Melbourne continue its undefeated run. While Carlton hard nut Jess Edwards pushed hard in the midfield alongside Charlotte Hammans. 

State league players 

Collingwood captain Caitlin Bunker lead from the front for her team kicking a goal of the year contender with a snap over her head in the goalsquare. Rebecca Neves and Tara Bohanna rotated ruck duties for the Saints and were strong targets all day.

Chloe Leighton was best on ground for Williamstown in its loss whereas it was the VFLW contingent of Cladia Gunjaca, Brianna Pratt and Theresia Meissner who had a big impact in Geelong’s win.

Former AFLW-listed player Alexia Hamilton was in the best for North after playing in the ruck and forward line. And Bulldogs captain Riley Christgoergl was named in the best for the second week in a row after her 11-disposal performance.

Veterans Cecilia McIntosh and Mia Rae Clifford were integral to Essendon’s win over Casey, the former kicking the goal to ice the game and give Essendon its first win. While former Kangaroo Georgia Nanscawen had an incredible 17 tackles to go with her 25 disposals.

Jessie Williams lead the goalkicking for Hawthorn with three while former Demon Alyssa Mifsud got on the board for Darebin with a goal.

GWS train-on player Pip Peschke hit the scoreboard and was in the best for Port Melbourne in one of her first games back from a torn Achilles and ACL inuries. Carlton captain Ally Bild was the best for the Blues.
