JASMINE Garner's record 13 clearances has seen the powerful North Melbourne matchwinner rocket into womens.afl's Team of the Week for round seven.

Greater Western Sydney and Carlton – despite losing to Fremantle in heartbreaking circumstances – have three nominations each.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.  

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult. 

DEFENDERS

Lauren Ahrens (Gold Coast), Sarah Allan (Adelaide), Jess Duffin (North Melbourne), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Chantella Perera (West Coast)

Allan (22 disposals, 17 intercepts) was one of Adelaide's best in a tough game and Harrington (22 disposals, 10 intercepts) is well and truly back to her best after a slow start to the season.

Duffin (20 disposals, three marks) has settled well back into the top level after returning in round five from pregnancy, Ahrens (21 disposals, 417m gained) was a key part of Gold Coast's fightback, while Perera (16, nine intercepts, five marks) starred against Geelong.

MIDFIELDERS

Breann Moody (Carlton, ruck), Britt Bonnici (Collingwood), Ally Anderson (Brisbane), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Alyce Parker (GWS)

Moody put in an outstanding four-quarter role in the ruck, recording 22 hitouts, 19 disposals and 11 intercepts against Fremantle.

Bowers (28 disposals, 10 clearances and 10 tackles) and Garner (28 and 13 clearances) were instrumental in their sides' wins, with the latter setting the AFLW record for clearances.

Opponents Britt Bonnici (28 touches, 486m gained) and Ally Anderson (26 and four clearances) found plenty of the footy, while Alyce Parker (28, 430m gained and six clearances) thrived in the wet.

FORWARDS

Brennan (15 disposals, three goals) is in the form of her AFLW career, Privitelli (11 disposals, three goals) rebounded well after being dropped and Cameron (three goals in the second term) broke the game open for the Eagles.

Hard-running forwards Hore (19 disposals, three goals) and Stevens (14, five marks, two goals) used the ball well and were constant threats in attack.

INTERCHANGE

Jade Pregelj (Gold Coast), Tyla Hanks (Melbourne), Amy McDonald (Geelong), Georgia Patrikios (St Kilda), Cora Staunton (GWS)

Hanks (25 disposals, five tackles) was Melbourne's best in its big win over Adelaide, while McDonald (24, nine clearances, one goal) played a lone hand for the Cats.

Patrikios (27 touches, 10 tackles, five clearances) battled stoically, while veterans Pregelj (13, 13 intercepts) and Staunton (10, three goals) take the final defensive and forward spots.
