WESTERN AUSTRALIA

East Fremantle won derby bragging rights with a 46-point win over South Fremantle. Claremont came from behind to upset Peel Thunderbirds by just three points and the Swan Districts kept their winning run alive with a big win over Subiaco.

AFLW-listed players 

Alex Williams continued her strong form in her return from a wrist injury for East Fremantle. While Evie Gooch again played a solid role in the Sharks' derby win.

Katie-Jayne Grieve returned for the Thunderbirds and played well through the midfield and Kate Orme played in a part in Claremont’s upset win.

For the third week in a row Mikayla Morrison hit the scoreboard with multiple goals for Swan Districts and Mikayla Hyde also performed strongly.

State league players

Kate Bartlett is yet to go goalless in a game for the Peel Thunderbirds. Katherine Bennett’s two goals were the difference for Claremont and Matilda Dyke was named best on.

Aimee Ralph put together another great performance and was in the votes for Swan Districts.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Woodville West-Torrens again was on the winners list with a nine-point win over Central Districts. A two-minute blitz in the last quarter gave Glenelg the lead and then the win over West Adelaide. Norwood kept North Adelaide goalless for most of the game and came away 22-point winners and South Adelaide notched another win with their nine-point win over Sturt.

AFLW-listed players  

Jess Sedunary had a best-on-ground performance in her return to the Eagles, kicking two goals to go with her 14 disposals.

Chelsea Biddell played in the ruck for West Adelaide dominating with 21 hitouts and 10 disposals while Crows teammate Dayna Cox returned for Glenelg from a hamstring injury. Cox had a solid return picking up 12 disposals and laying five tackles.

Hannah Munyard performed strongly for South Adelaide leading all disposal getters with 20 and also kicking a goal. Montana McKinnon continued her good form in the ruck with 16 hitouts, six marks and 11 disposals.

State league players 

Central Districts mid Shelby Smith led all players with 21 disposals and she kept the pressure on the Eagles with six tackles.

Lauren Young almost kicked the entirety of West Adelaide’s score with her three goals, she also lead with game-high number of disposals and marks. Ellie Kellock kicked two goals for the Tigers including one of the winners.

Former Crow Jaimi Tabb had an impressive 10 tackles for North Adelaide while Leah Cutting had a day out in Norwood’s win with 17 disposals, 26 hitouts, six marks and nine tackles.

Georgia Swan was rated best on ground for Sturt with her 20 disposals and five marks.

QUEENSLAND

Aspley’s unbeaten run came to an end with a 22-point loss to Yeronga. Maroochydore held Coolangatta Tweed goalless in their 32-point win. Coorparoo stole victory from University of Queensland their two last-quarter goals giving them a one-point win and Bond University thrashed Wilston Grange by 39 points.

AFLW-listed players  

Zimmorlei Farquharson was busy in front of goals for Yeronga as was Jordan Zanchetta in the midfield.

Lions pair Beth Pinchin and Selina Priest were in the best for Coolangatta Tweed in a difficult loss.

Gold Coast Sun Georgia Bevan featured for the Kings in their close victory picking up the votes. Teammate Jordann Hickey starred for Bond University kicking four goals and picking up the votes.

Molly Ritson and Ellie Hampson also had roles in Bond’s massive win while Ruby Svarc and Rheann Lugg’s experience was on show on a tough day for Wilston Grange.

State league players  

Morgan Lanigan was in the best for Aspley and also hit the scoreboard with a goal. Sophie Bale kicked a goal and got the votes for Maroochydore in their big win.

Rachel Vetter kicked two goals for University of Queensland while Laura Blue was instrumental for Cooparoo in that tight match-up.

Sophie Wheeler battled for Wilston Grange up forward and kicked the Gorilla’s only goal.

VICTORIA 

A strong second-half showing by Williamstown handed them a 16-point win over the Western Bulldogs. Port Melbourne continue its unbeaten start to the season with a 16-point win over Geelong. Casey Demons made it two in a row with a dominant 25-point win over the Southern Saints. Carlton came out eight-point winners in an entertaining clash against North Melbourne. Essendon kept Darebin goalless and ran away 67-point winners, while Collingwood remains unbeaten after overcoming Hawthorn in a low-scoring affair.

AFLW-listed players 

Bailey Hunt continues to find form in her return from a calf injury tallying 26 disposals and eight tackles for the Bulldogs in their loss to Williamstown. Amelia van Oosterwijck piled on the pressure laying 11 tackles for the Dogs.

Geelong pair Maddy Boyd and Steph Williams were two of Geelong’s best performers. Boyd was played mainly in the ruck winning 28 hitouts, 16 disposals and six marks while Williams had 13 disposals and 11 tackles.

Luka Lesosky-Hay continues to increase her output with Richmond affiliate Port Melbourne picking up 23 disposals and five tackles. She was well supported by team mates Emily Harley and Phoebe Monahan. 

Winnie Laing had her best showing for Carlton as did Maddy Guerin and Paige Trudgeon. North Melbourne forward Brooke Brown kicked four goals to go with her 13 disposals and Katelyn Cox battled in the midfield collecting 20 disposals and laying 12 tackles.

Niamh McEvoy was again in Casey’s best with her two goals in her push to be re-selected in Melbourne’s AFLW side.

Renee Saulitis hit the scoreboard for the Southern Saints and was well supported by Nadia von Bertouch.  

Abbi Maloney returned for Collingwood and was influential with a goal and some strong grabs in the forward line. Maddie Shevlin also returned and showed off her pace on the wing.

State league players 

Western Bulldogs VFLW captain Riley Christgoergl keeps leading from the front for her side collecting 18 disposals and three marks. Seagulls mid Ashlea Melnikas impressed with 16 tackles and 16 disposals.

Former Murray Bushranger and Vic Country representative Sophie Locke continues her strong form in front of goals kicking three in Port Melbourne’s win over Geelong.

Paige Sheppard again found plenty of the ball for Geelong finishing with 25 touches and teammate Annabel Johnson was in the best with her five marks, 17 disposals and seven tackles.

Georgia Nanscawen was again influential for Essendon and Alana Barber backed up her impressive game last week with two goals against Darebin. Victoria Blackwood was Darebin’s best in a tough outing at The Hangar.

Collingwood pair Marla Neal and Caitlin Bunker continued their fine form in the strong Collingwood midfield. Jenna Richardson was the Hawks' best in her first game for the season.

NORTHERN TERRITORY

Inactive Gold Coast ruck Jasmyn Hewett capped off a dominant NTFL Women’s season, taking out the best-on-ground medal in PINT’s victory over Darwin Buffettes despite playing with a broken hand.

The 27-year-old was unavailable for the Suns’ 2021 campaign due to work commitments in her hometown of Darwin, and dominated proceedings this summer, winning the League’s Gwynne Medal as the best and fairest player.

PINT recorded its first top-flight women’s flag on the back of two goals apiece from Hewett and Casey Morris, with midfielder Dom Carbone – who has also played for Hawthorn’s VFLW side in recent weeks – named the Buffettes’ best player.

NAB AFLW Academy member Ashanti Bush also booted three for Darwin.
