The AFL has today announced the fixture for Round Seven to Round Nine of the 2021 NAB AFL Women's Competition.

AFL General Manager Women's Football Nicole Livingstone said she was pleased to be able to confirm arrangements for the remaining matches of the home-and-away season and maintained the league would continue to take the advice of governments and health officials.

"The commitment remains to complete the season and award a premier. We are thrilled with the season so far and are pleased to be able to confirm matchups for the final three rounds of the home-and-away season," Ms Livingstone said.

"We have and will continue to remain adaptable as we work closely with each stakeholder to ensure we achieve the best possible outcome for everyone in the game.

"While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community remains the priority and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner led by respective governments, public health officials and medical experts.

Following the nine-round home and away season, the top six teams will participate in a three-week finals series, culminating in a Grand Final on the weekend of April 17-18.

A single ladder has been in place for 2021 with the regulation of matchups seeing the competition divided into bands of the Top Four, Middle Six, and Bottom Four based on last year's ladder positions to ensure maximum competition integrity. The fixture for Rounds Seven to Round Nine upholds the following integrity rules based on these ladder positions:

  • Clubs play a minimum of two and maximum of three teams from the Top 4 and Bottom 4 based off 2020 ladder.
  • Clubs play a minimum of three and maximum of five teams from Middle 6 based off 2020 ladder.

The AFL will continue to closely monitor the situation across the country and will be led by respective governments, public health officials and medical experts. As part of this, the fixture has been developed on the basis that the Western Australian border will be open to Victoria during Round Seven to Round Nine, acknowledging this is subject to confirmation.
