SOUTH AUSTRALIA
There was no break for the SANFLW over Easter. Instead, the league held a massive showcase of women’s footy for round six, playing all four matches back-to-back at Adelaide Oval. Glenelg and Sturt kicked the day off and ended their clash in a draw. Central District had a 44-point over North Adelaide, Norwood got the edge over Woodville-West Torrens by 10 points and West Adelaide finished off the massive day with a 37-point win over South Adelaide.
AFLW-listed players
Renee Forth and Jessica Sedunary lined up for Woodville-West Torrens in the tight clash against the Redlegs. Forth was one of the Eagles' best with her 17 disposals and five marks, while Sedunary picked up 12 possessions and had four tackles.
Chelsea Biddell returned for West Adelaide and was in the best with her two goals, 15 disposals and eight marks. Madison Newman also put in a fine performance collecting 16 disposals and five tackles.
Ailish Considine also featured for the Bloods, collecting 12 disposals to go with her five marks.
South Adelaide was bolstered by the return of Hannah Munyard, Lisa Whiteley and Montana McKinnon for the clash against West Adelaide.
Whiteley was one of the best for the Panthers, kicking a goal and gathering 15 disposals. McKinnon dominated in the ruck with 23 hitouts, to go with 11 disposals and six inside 50s. Hannah Munyard did well in the midfield, gathering 13 disposals.
State League players
Glenelg was well serviced by Ellie Kellock who had a great day in the midfield, leading the disposal count with 21, along with seven tackles and six clearances. Teammate Jessica Bates piled on the pressure with her 12 tackles.
Jess Good gave her Sturt teammates first use of the footy, winning a massive 46 hitouts and Jaimee Wittervan was one of the beneficiaries of the silver service, leading Sturt with her 19 disposals, seven tackles and four clearances.
Former Crow Katelyn Rosenzweig kicked two goals for the Bulldogs in the big win while Erica Greet battled for the Roosters with her 18 disposals.
Nicole Collie and Kiana Lee were instrumental for the Eagles, collecting 20 and 12 disposals respectively and both tallying six marks. Leah Cutting continues her fine form for Norwood, winning 33 hitouts, 12 disposals and four tackles. Cutting’s teammate Elizabeth Drake was the best for Norwood in its close win with her two goals, 13 disposals and five marks.
Star of the future Lauren Young continues to shine for West Adelaide, hitting the scoreboard with a goal and gathering 15 disposals. Brianna Wedding was the best for South Adelaide with her 20 disposals, four marks and rebound out of defence.
