INJURED Adelaide captain Chelsea Randall was given the privilege of naming the Crows' acting skipper for Saturday's NAB AFLW Grand Final.

Randall will miss with concussion, and with no named vice-captain in Adelaide's squad this year, she picked experienced defender Ange Foley to lead the side.

"'Chels' took me on a nice walk on Wednesday morning, that was a pretty special moment for us," Foley said.

"We reflected on the five years we've had together, and I have mentioned (previously) I burst into tears.

"It's obviously emotional, and a bit of a bittersweet feeling in not having one of my best mates run out alongside me, but also lead us as she has over the past five years. I'm pretty honoured to wear the badge for the day, and hopefully we can do her pretty proud."

Randall said it had been an overwhelming week and that she'd received considerable support from her club, opponent Brisbane and fans around the country.

"I got the honour to name who I'd like to run out there tomorrow, and as Ange mentioned, we went on a nice little walk. Didn't drop to one knee or propose or anything like that, but it was something very special," Randall said.

"We're obviously close mates and have been on an amazing journey over the past few years, and Ange has been an exceptional leader for our football club. I'm so proud of the person she is.

"As I've said to her, it won't change anything about what she does on the field, she'll continue to do that, and I know our team has exceptional leaders."

Coach Matthew Clarke confirmed the Crows would make just the one change.

Potential inclusion Jess Sedunary, injured her hamstring at training this week, leaving one of Ailish Considine, Renee Forth and Lisa Whiteley the most likely to be the sole inclusion.

Meanwhile, Brisbane coach Craig Starcevich has nominated the Lions' 12-point loss to Adelaide as the club's "turning point" for the season on their route to a third Grand Final.

"It was terrific timing, really, because we'd gone the first three rounds playing teams that weren't going to be (finals) qualifiers (Richmond, Gold Coast and West Coast), so we'd had a couple of cruisy victories at that point in time," Starcevich said.

"All of a sudden, we were coming up against the big dogs, and we took a while to get going. Once we got going, we were OK, but the jump they had on us early was a bit of an issue. But once we adapted to the tempo, we were okay.

"They sort of did us a favour in a bit of a way, because from that point onwards, we came up against contenders most weeks and we were pretty good.

"Any footy team goes through that, if you play teams who are a lesser calibre to yourself, and you beat them up a little bit, then you tend to get a bit complacent against the really good sides."

Adelaide superstar Erin Phillips starred in the round four game, kicking four goals from 21 disposals.

"Erin gets hold of us most times, whenever she plays against us, so we haven't figured that one out yet. So hopefully whatever plan we're up to now, we can see how that goes tomorrow," Starcevich said.

"I think – I don’t know what 'Doc' (Clarke) thinks – it was nearly the best I've ever seen her play. Key moment stuff that Erin tends to do. I sat back and thought, 'my god, that was good'."
