GOLD Coast has delisted former skipper Leah Kaslar.

The 35-year-old was a foundation player for both Brisbane and then Gold Coast when the Suns joined the NAB AFLW competition in 2020.

Primarily a key defender but playing forward in the later stages of her AFLW career, Kaslar has played 36 games across five seasons, managing to kick her maiden goal this year.

Kaslar captained Brisbane in 2019 and took the reins at Gold Coast alongside Sam Virgo for the 2020 season.

"Leah has been a fantastic leader of our club since our AFLW team was established and we can’t thank her enough for everything she’s given to the Suns," Gold Coast head of women's footy Fiona Sessarago (nee McLarty) said.

"She has been a highly respected member of the playing group with her professionalism and commitment to her teammates clear standout traits.

"Unfortunately, we weren’t in a position to be able to offer Leah a place on our list for next season, but we wish her all the best moving forward."

Gold Coast previously delisted Jordann Hickey, Molly Ritson and Georgia Bevan.

Womens.afl understands Gold Coast has put its priority draft picks – No.6 and No.8 overall – on the table.

The Suns are unable to trade pick No.1, with the first five draft picks in this year's NAB AFLW Draft protected due to rules made by the AFL surrounding the clubs given priority selections.

With a state-based draft in play, Gold Coast effectively has little need for the No.1 pick, needing only to be ahead of Brisbane in the Queensland pecking order.

In a comparatively shallow draft, picks No.6 and No.8 have enormous value in Victoria, where eight clubs are drawing from the same pool of talent.

Rival clubs are under the impression the Suns ideally want a player in return for one of their first-round selections.
