IT WAS as simple as Brisbane players getting back to enjoying themselves that triggered Saturday night's thumping turnaround victory over the Western Bulldogs in a rematch of last year's NAB AFL Women's Grand Final. 

Following successive hidings, against Fremantle and Melbourne, the Lions did some soul-searching before taking on the premier, classy small forward Jess Wuetschner said. 

But they kept it simple.

"We wanted to redeem ourselves," Wuetschner said. 

"We hadn't had two losses like that before and it was something we focused on during the week, just to get better and bring out a good performance. 

"It was a mix of enjoying our footy and getting our gameplan right."

Brisbane's 32-point victory moved it to the top of Conference B ahead of Saturday afternoon's meeting with Geelong at Burpengary.

A win would move the Lions a game clear at the top of the conference with two rounds remaining.

"I know we're in a good position after that win, but Geelong is the next best side in our conference, so they'll come in strong and we need another good performance," Wuteschner said.

"After the rocky start, to be in the position we're in now is a good thing, but if you don't come out and perform each week, there's not much point.

Wuetschner said the influx of new players Nat Grider, Jessy Keeffe and Jacqui Yorston against the Dogs had been a big fillip.

"It was really exciting to have three debutants. The girls really stepped up," she said.
