OAKLEIGH Chargers has capped off a dominant NAB League Girls season with the club's first flag.

The minor premiers were too strong for Geelong Falcons from the first to last siren, winning by 37 points at Avalon Airport Oval on Sunday after kicking six consecutive goals in the first and second quarters.

Tenacious inside midfielder Amanda Ling, who will turn 19 in September, was named best-afield after recording a game-high 20 disposals, 10 tackles and three inside 50s.

The NAB League age limit was lifted to 19 this year as a response to last year's cancelled season due to COVID-19 lockdowns in Victoria.

Stella Reid and Sarah Morley – both eligible for the draft this year – kicked three apiece, with Reid (the niece of former Sydney and Geelong player Simon Arnott) named the Chargers' second-best player.

After managing just two goals to half-time, the Falcons rallied somewhat in the second half, swinging forward Gabbi Featherston into the ruck against the dominant Kalarni Kearns, and capitalising on her work and energy at ground level.

Having handed the Chargers their only loss for the year a few weeks ago, the Falcons finished on a respectable 34 points, with small forward Poppy Schaap (two goals) a constant threat.

Oakleigh midfielder Jasmine Fleming, 16, found plenty of the footy (17 disposals, five inside 50s, one goal) while Falcons ball-winner Tess Craven (16 and eight tackles) put in a solid four-quarter effort.
