Subiaco booked themselves a spot in the preliminary final in a thriller over Claremont. Hayley Miller had a crucial goal for the Lions to help them over the line by just three points.
Peel Thunder held Swan Districts goalless in wet conditions on the way to securing a spot in the WAFLW Grand Final for the second year in a row.
Sabreena Duffy’s strong WAFLW form continued by helping Peel Thunder reach the big dance.
Fremantle duo Stephanie Cain and Bianca Webb were in the best for Swan Districts but couldn’t get their side the win despite their side having five more scoring shots than Peel Thunder.
State League Players
Western Australia under-19 representative Amy Franklin was lively for Claremont in their loss by kicking a goal and teammate Jessica Low was in the best for the Tigers.
Subiaco’s Amy Hunt work inside forward 50 resulted in the winning goal for the Lions to get them into the preliminary final.
The League’s leading goalscorer Kate Bartlett sealed the win for Peel Thunder and Katie-Jayne Grieve also helped the Thunder on their way to a second straight Grand Final appearance.
QUEENSLAND
AFLW-Listed Players
University of Queensland handed Bond University its second loss of the season in subsequent weeks to go through to the QAFLW Grand Final.
Dakota Davidson again had multiple goals for University of Queensland finishing with two. Nat Grider and Bre Koenen were instrumental in helping University of Queensland book their spot in the Grand Final.
Kalinda Howarth had two goals for Bond and Suns teammate Ellie Hampson fought hard for Bond but they couldn’t secure their Grand Final spot.
Bond University will come up against Maroochydore in the preliminary final this weekend after they saw off Cooparoo by 13 points.
Isabel Dawes had a goal and was in the best for the Roos in the win over Cooparoo while Lions teammates Jess Wuetschner and Ally Anderson were in the best for Cooparoo.
State League Players
Former Lion Brianna McFarlane’s four-goal performance for Maroochydore was a deciding factor in the elimination final win.
University of Queensland’s Marnie McGorm and Georgia Brennan both kicked two goals and Luka Yoshida-Martin was also important for University.
VICTORIA
AFLW-Listed Players
The VFLW returned after the lockdown in Victoria came to an end, it started with Geelong taking on Hawthorn. The Cats were led by Laura Gardiner and Darcy Moloney who both hit the scoreboard and had 33 and 29 disposals respectively.
Kristy Stratton led all players for tackles in the game finishing with 14 to go with 14 disposals and Sarah Perkins kept the Hawks in it with her two goals.
The Western Bulldogs fell to Collingwood for the second time this season and while under siege in defence Sarah Hartwig stood tall with 17 disposals and five marks.
Casey Demons returned to the winners list after two straight losses to beat the Darebin Falcons by 53 points. Eliza McNamara continued her strong form after a return from concussion, leading the disposals with 22 also adding a goal.
Kate Gillespie-Jones and Winnie Laing also turned out for Casey for the first time after being delisted by their respective sides during Sign and Trade Period.
Southern Saints got closer to another VFLW finals berth in an entertaining clash with Carlton. Tynna Smith and Jess Matin showed their class kicking two goals to get the Saints back in front in the final quarter.
Lucy McEvoy was the best for the Blues finishing the game with 21 disposals, six clearances and seven tackles.
State League Players
Imogen Barnett took herself to the top of the League goalkicking tally with three goals in Collingwood’s big win over the Western Bulldogs.
Williamstown pushed Essendon in their second match-up of the season but Essendon was able to shore up their finals spot with a 21-point win. Georgia Nanscawen and Courtney Ugle led the Bombers with 20 and 18 disposals with Nanscawen also laying 14 tackles.
North Melbourne’s chance at finals took a hit with a 43-point loss to Port Melbourne. Airlie Runnalls and Meagan Kiely both racked up 34 possessions in the loss.
NEW SOUTH WALES
AFLW-Listed Players
Inner West Magpies had a 18-point win over the Manly Warringah Wolves with Emily Pease and Erin Todd instrumental for the winners.
Lisa Steane and Emily Goodsir were in the best for their efforts for the Wolves in the loss.
Louise Stephenson helped Sydney University overcome UNSW Easter Suburbs Bulldogs by 15 points at home.
UTS prevailed by seven points over the North Shore Bombers with Nicola Barr and Tait Mackrill both in the best for their respective sides.
The East Coast Eagles remained undefeated with a 60-point win over Macquarie University, Tarni Evans kicked two goals and was one of the best players for the Eagles in the win.
State League Players
Pennant Hills Demons notched its second of the year with a 14-point win over fourth-placed Southern Power. Eliza Harvey was the standout for the Demons kicking two goals and was in the votes in the win.
2021 under-19 Allies representatives Brodee Mowbray and Ruby Sargent-Wilson were in the best for Southern Power.
Jessica Quade’s three goals were instrumental for UTS in their win over the North Shore Bombers.
East Coast Eagle’s Jordyn Joliffe kicked three goals in her side's win while Chloe Davis was the best for Macquarie University.
CANBERRA
State League Players
Four goals to Ainslie Tricolour’s Rachel Friend got her team over the line against the Queanbeyan Tigers. Ainslie was four goals down at three-quarter time and mounted a stirring comeback to snatch the win.
Belconnen Magpies held onto to first place on the ladder with an 11-point win over the Eastlake Demons. Jacqueline Spence was noted for her efforts in the win with Maggie Gorham also in the best.
Tuggeranong Valley held the Gungahlin Jets scoreless to go onto win by 42 points. Amy Dwyer had two goals in a best-on-ground performance for Tuggeranong.
