A FRACTURED hip after getting hit by a car in 2015 hasn't slowed down newly crowned under-19 All-Australian ruck Zoe Prowse.

The South Australian product was walking with friends when an out-of-control car clipped the teenager.

Astonishingly, she was back on the field less than two months later.

"I was hit by car in 2015, but that was actually all right, it wasn't too bad. I broke my hip, it was fractured. It kind of took a strain on my sport, but I was back playing within six weeks," Prowse told womens.afl.

"Basically, I was just at the park with my friends, and we were walking home on the footpath and a car was going in between 80 and 120km/hr, they lost control around the corner and I got cleaned up by the mirror of the car.

"I was with three friends, and even though I was the one who got injured and went to hospital, I'm possibly better off, because while they can remember it all, I blanked out.

"It healed pretty quickly, and I always just want to play sport, so anything I could do to get back quickly.

"I wasn't really nervous in my first game back. I've been skydiving, I love those sorts of things, so it wasn't too bad, and my pain tolerance is pretty high."

Despite her tender years, Prowse has been a strong force at SANFLW level, last year taking out Sturt's best and fairest and being named in the SAFNLW team of the year at 17 years old.

She initially joined Sturt's under-15 side after previously starting at local club Glenunga in year eight but showed such promise she was elevated to seniors that same year.

It was a much better fit for the 177cm Prowse, who in her own words, "ended up on the floor" a lot while playing as a goal defence in netball.

"It was very scary, and I got thrown into the ruck pretty much straightaway. Normally the rucks were a lot older and taller than me," she said.

"I am tall, but not that tall for a ruck. My vertical jump isn't that great if I'm just jumping to touch something. But my timing, to be able to use the other person to get up, is one of my strengths.

"I like trying to be the fourth midfielder. I tried to play as a pure onballer for a bit, but I kept going back to ruck.

"There's not really one player I want to be like. It's more little parts of different players, Brodie Grundy and rucks who do similar 'fourth midfielder' roles."

Prowse lives on a small property in Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills.

"Sometimes I like to just relax, watch a movie, chill out. Other times, I'll go ride motorbikes go ride the horses, those sorts of things, but really depends on what mood I'm in," she said.

"We used to live on a bigger property but it's still five acres. My sister's really into horses, so we've got a few."
