• Geelong, 2.1 (13) v Fremantle. The Cats just couldn't get that last kick into the 30-metre zone in front of goal that's crucial for scoring in AFLW. It's Geelong's lowest score for the season.

FREMANTLE 6.13 (49) def GEELONG 2.1 (13)

• The final margin disguises the fact this was a tight affair until half-time, after which Fremantle held Geelong scoreless while kicking 4.11.
• Dockers midfielder Kiara Bowers is enjoying a superb patch of form in her comeback season from two years on the sidelines with knee injuries. She laid 19 tackles (two behind Ebony Marinoff's AFLW record) while also having 16 disposals.
• Geelong just shaded Fremantle in total disposals (182-181) but had just three shots from its 17 inside 50s. By contrast, the Dockers were a lot more effective with their ball movement, having 23 shots from 35 inside 50s.
• With the ball spending so much time in Fremantle's forward half, it's no surprise Geelong's leading ball-winners were key backs Meg McDonald (22 disposals) and Maddy McMahon (17), who are forming a strong combination but were stretched by the weight of inside 50s on Saturday.

NORTH MELBOURNE 7.11 (53) def COLLINGWOOD 5.1 (31)

• With a finals spot on the line, the Roos were a class above with young forward Daria Bannister kicking the first goal of the match in her return from a left knee reconstruction.
• Collingwood's slow but steady upward trajectory continued, recording its highest score for a third consecutive week. Darcy Guttridge, who spent most of her junior career as a half-back, is turning into an effective forward. She kicked two goals after one last week.
• The Kangaroos' line-up featured four former Magpies: Jess Duffin, Jasmine Garner, Moana Hope and Emma King. Hope was influential in the first two goals, Garner kicked two of her own, King was steady while the dangerous Duffin was well held by Emma Grant.
• Magpie Britt Bonnici is well acquainted with Roo superstar Emma Kearney; the two clashed on the boundary line last time they met and were both reprimanded for misconduct by the MRO. Bonnici was once again a thorn in Kearney's side, holding the Roo to a below-average 14 disposals while picking up 21 herself and laying 10 tackles.

MELBOURNE 5.9 (39) def WESTERN BULLDOGS 6.2 (38)

• Tegan Cunningham was the hero as Melbourne kept its finals hopes alive. She took a contested mark and kicked the winning goal with just two minutes left.
• The Demons shot out of the blocks but had an inaccurate first quarter (1.6). By contrast, the Bulldogs wrested control in the second term, piling on four goals to the Dees' one to go into half-time with a six-point lead.
• Melbourne's dangerous overlap running game returned in the third term, with underrated ball-carriers Chantel Emonson, Maddy Guerin and Maddy Gay all contributing. Talented young key forward Eden Zanker capped off the term with a stunning set-shot goal from 40 metres out on the boundary.
• Isabel Huntington's return from a right knee reconstruction has created a much better structure for the Dogs up forward. She drew defenders away from the likes of Aisling Utri and Kirsten McLeod, who both hit the scoreboard.

ADELAIDE 9.5 (59) def GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY 4.3 (27)

• Adelaide was just eight points in front after a torrid third term, when just one behind was kicked between the two sides. The fourth quarter was a different story, the Crows piling on four goals to a solitary behind.
• The Giants have struggled to connect up forward this year, often getting the ball inside 50 in a rushed manner rather than through clean possession. But it was a different story in the first half of this match, with Christina Bernardi looking dangerous, as did the Irish duo of Cora Staunton and Yvonne Bonner.
• Stevie-Lee Thompson kicked another three goals to take her lead in the competition's goalkicking to three.
• Surprisingly, Adelaide ball-magnet Ebony Marinoff, the 2017 NAB AFLW Rising Star, is yet to kick a goal in the competition. She came very close on Sunday, clipping the behind post, much to her disbelief.

CARLTON 6.7 (43) def BRISBANE 4.3 (27)

• Carlton is best-placed to win one of Conference B's preliminary final spots. The Blues are first and 24 per cent ahead of second-placed Geelong.
• Lion Jade Ellenger had a debut to remember, the lightly-framed 19-year-old kicking two goals.
• Ellenger's second goal, kicked in the third term, brought the margin to just three points. But rugby sevens convert and Carlton rookie Brooke Walker kicked two goals in just two-and-a-half minutes to take the margin to 16. The Blues were in control for the rest of the match.
• Carlton midfielder Maddy Prespakis surely has one hand on the 2019 NAB AFLW Rising Star award after a career-high 27 disposals and a best-on-ground performance. Prespakis is averaging 20 touches a game with Ebony Marinoff (2017 winner) and Chloe Molloy (2018) averaging 16 and 14 respectively in their debut seasons.
