TWO VFLW players are heading north, with Victorian pair Alana Barba and Tara Bohanna snapped up by Gold Coast.

Essendon VFLW's Barba and recently crowned Southern Saints best-and-fairest winner Bohanna have joined the Suns after Emma Pittman and Annise Bradfield were moved to the club's inactive list for the 2022 season.

Bradfield is recovering from a serious knee injury, while Pittman will be unavailable as she focuses on her hospitality business.

Midfielder/forward Barba played 17 VFLW games for Essendon in 2021, kicking 11 goals and averaging 16.5 disposals and 7.3 tackles per game.

Key forward Bohanna kicked 19 goals in 16 matches to finish 2021 as the League's third-highest goalkicker, averaging 16.8 disposals, 4.4 marks and 3.7 tackles per game.

Gold Coast's head of women's football Fiona Sessarago said the club was excited by the new signings.

"We're really excited by what both Alana and Tara can bring to the club," Sessarago said.

"Alana has great flexibility in her game and is a very dynamic player which we look forward to adding to our mix.

"Tara is a goalkicker who will provide us with another target inside 50 to give us a new dimension in our forward line which we haven't had previously."
