ADELAIDE record-breaker Ebony Marinoff has credited a couple of her midfield comrades for allowing her to add greater versatility to her game.

The 21-year-old Crows star set a new AFL Women's benchmark for possessions in a game with 33 disposals in last Sunday's 29-point win against Geelong at Norwood Oval.

Marinoff has played as an inside midfielder in the first two seasons of AFLW, leading the competition in tackles in both years.

But the addition of Renee Forth from Greater Western Sydney, coupled with the emergence of Anne Hatchard, has given Marinoff the freedom to find the footy in different ways.

"Bringing in Renee and with 'Hatchy' having a really good pre-season has given me the flexibility to not always be the inside player," Marinoff said.

"Every year we've tried to add another midfielder to the team, so I've had heaps of help out there this year.

"To have that balance is really good for my footy and gives other girls opportunities."

Marinoff's 33 touches surpassed the previous record set by North Melbourne's Emma Kearney of 30 from round six in 2017.

Marinoff had 18 kicks and 15 handballs, while also laying six tackles.

The 2017 NAB AFLW Rising Star now holds two individual competition records, having recorded 21 tackles in a game against the Giants last year.

Crows coach Matthew Clarke was pleased for Marinoff, especially after she came under close attention the previous week against Carlton and was held to 17 disposals.

"Her contest work was outstanding," Clarke said.

"She copped a heavy tag last week and had to manage that, so to come back out this week and get back in that vein of form was really pleasing."

The Crows face another huge challenge when they take on unbeaten Fremantle in Darwin on Saturday night.

"Every game is pretty big. There are only seven, so you can't take any lightly," Clarke said.

"Freo's form is really strong and we're really excited to go back up to Darwin."
