CARLTON director and CEO of Our Watch Patty Kinnersly is Nicole Livingstone's latest guest on the League Leaders podcast.

Kinnersly, who played for 14 years in the former VWLF league and captained Victoria, discussed the importance of changing cultural norms in helping prevent violence against women.

"We've seen the impact of AFLW and other women's sport normalising that women can play sport and be in leadership roles," Kinnersly said.

"It's a big jump for people to understand that gender inequality and a sexist joke here, a woman not getting a job, is related to violence against women. That's our biggest trick, getting people to understand that that action here, is related to violence against women.

"Our biggest job is helping Australians understand gender inequality is driving violence against women. Every one of us has a role to play, whether as a parent, a sports coach or the prime minister, and an organisation such as Our Watch will help you undertake that change."
