2021 in a nutshell: The Crows finished on top of the ladder and hosted the 2021 NAB AFLW Grand Final, but ultimately fell at the final hurdle to Brisbane. The Crows also played the decider without skipper Chelsea Randall in one of the year’s most heartbreaking stories as she was ruled out due to the new concussion protocols. Modern-day great Erin Phillips led the Crows’ best and fairest halfway through the season, but then battled a knee injury for the rest of the year and failed to make the same impact.

Full squad: Sarah Allan, Najwa Allen, Abbie Ballard, Chelsea Biddell, Hannah Button, Teah Charlton, Ailish Considine, Dayna Cox, Nikki Gore, Caitlin Gould, Anne Hatchard, Jasmyn Hewett, Eloise Jones, Ebony Marinoff, Rachelle Martin, Montana McKinnon, Hannah Munyard, Justine Mules, Maddi Newman, Erin Phillips, Danielle Ponter, Zoe Prowse, Marijana Rajcic, Chelsea Randall, Jasmine Simmons, Brooke Tonon, Stevie-Lee Thompson, Ashleigh Woodland, Lisa Whiteley

Circle it: It has to be the Grand Final rematch against Brisbane at Norwood Oval. The Crows will have to wait until round eight to face their arch-rivals.

2022 FIXTURE Check out who your club will face

Player to watch: Ashleigh Woodland’s first season as a Crow saw her finish as their second-highest goalkicker with nine for the year. Another pre-season under the belt should help her flourish up front in partnership with superstar Erin Phillips.

Best NAB AFLW Rising Star chance: Zoe Prowse

2022 prediction: This could be the Crows’ last chance for another flag in the near future before Port Adelaide comes in to raid their list and the strong SA talent pool. There’s no doubt they have the players to get it done and when a fit Erin Phillips on the park, you can’t rule anything out. The Crows will be hard to stop at their Norwood Oval fortress, so expect them to be in the race for another top-four finish and a historic third premiership.
