Who is your all-time favourite footballer or athlete?
I'd honestly say Cody Weightman. He's so exciting to watch, he brings so much energy. He is the energy of the team. I watch him when he isn't near the ball, and he celebrates every goal like it's his own. I loved 'Pendles' (Scott Pendlebury) growing up, I'm a Collingwood fan.
Who is the worst teammate on social media?
Ash Guest, 100 per cent. She posts randomly, and so much as well. Every day, there's a post. I love her though. She's got a setting where it posts the same photo on both Instagram and Facebook, so I'll see it on both. I love her, but honestly, too much.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a hairdresser. All I can do is a bun and a ponytail, so I don't know why that was my dream job. Or, I wanted to be the first ever woman to play AFL, which was never going to happen. I wanted to be part of the Collingwood team, running out with Pendles.
Who is your toughest opponent?
I would probably say Erin Phillips, or anyone in the Adelaide midfield. She was just so strong. I was mentally ready to lock on, and play body on body, and it was like I was a fly on her shoulder that she just flicked off. It was embarrassing, I knew it was going to be an "area for improvement" in my weekly tape. It was like, "know your place, Jess".
Which Olympic sport would you love to compete in?
Skateboarding, now that it's in. It was all I watched this year. I went to the shed and got out my old skateboard, which I don't think even classifies as a skateboard, it's so old and the wheels are coming off. Almost had a few injuries there.
Which teammate is most likely to go on and coach?
Brooke Lochland, Guesty or 'Blackers' (Ellie Blackburn).
Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions?
Not really. I always wear two pairs of socks, so I wear a pair of ankle socks and then my W sock. I've always done it, even playing basketball. I think once my shoes were too big, so I wore two pairs, and ever since I've done the same.
What was the first concert you attended?
Reece Mastin. I used to want to be Reece Mastin. I had a dress-up party and I dressed up as him. You know how he has that gap in his two front teeth? My mum works at a dentist and got me a mould like his teeth, and I wore them for my birthday party. I'm hoping I was still in primary school, I think I was about nine.
What is the non-football accomplishment of which you're most proud?
Finishing high school. I went to Maribyrnong College (a specialist sports school) and I live in Bundoora, so it was quite a hike to get there. I never once complained about getting up, I was usually the one waking mum up to take me to the train station. To have that discipline at a young age, I'm pretty proud of it.
Would you prefer to take Mark or Goal of the Year?
I almost got Goal of the Year (Fitzgerald was a nomination in 2021). I think Goal of the Year, I'm a little too scared to take speccys. I've had a taste of what Goal of the Year could be, and I liked it.
