BOTH round one NAB AFLW Rising Star nominees have come from the same game for the tenth time in the competition's history, with Geelong’s highly touted Georgie Prespakis and third-year North Melbourne player Mia King getting the nod.
On debut, last year's No.2 draft selection Prespakis stamped her authority on the midfield battle, winning the first clearance of the game with her intelligence and agility.
Already known for her signature long sleeves, the midfielder won an equal team high 20 disposals, and led the side for clearances with seven.
Prespakis also laid six tackles and racked up a whopping 402 metres gained, one of just five players to achieve the feat in round one.
Running out in the other blue and white strip on the day was Mia King, playing largely in the forward half for the Kangaroos.
The no.23 is one of North Melbourne's talented Tasmanian recruits, taken with pick 49 in the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft.
Kick starting her third season, King gathered a personal best 15 disposals, well up on her career average of 9.5 touches a game coming into the year.
King's impact increased as the game wore on, involved in an important passage of play early in the final quarter which saw her slot an important goal to put the Roos in a winning position.
Players are eligible for the NAB AFLW Rising Star if they are 21 years and under as of January 1, 2022, and have not been previously nominated. Two players will be nominated per home and away round of the NAB AFLW season.
