KIARA Bowers' astonishing all-round performance against Richmond puts her at the front of the pack in womens.afl's Team of the Week for round three.

In shortened quarters compared to the AFL competition, Bowers finished with 28 disposals, 16 tackles, nine clearances, seven inside 50s and 428m gained.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult.

Bianca Jakobsson (St Kilda), Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Sarah Lampard (Melbourne), Maddy McMahon (Geelong), Marijana Rajcic (Adelaide)

Kearney (16 disposals, four marks) makes her TOTW defensive debut, having shifted to the half-back line this year, with the hard-working Lampard (17) taking her spot on the other flank.

McMahon (15 disposals, 10 marks) holds her spot for a second week, Rajcic (13, eight intercepts) was a cornerstone of Adelaide's defence, while Jakobsson (17, eight intercepts) had one of her best games for St Kilda.

MIDFIELDERS

Breann Moody (Carlton, ruck), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Eloise Jones (Adelaide), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne)

The strong start to the season of Moody (14 hitouts, 531m gained) continued against Brisbane.

Bowers (28 disposals, 16 tackles, nine clearances) produced numbers that had to be seen to be believed, Lambert (22, nine tackles, seven clearances) wasn't too far behind, while Riddell (23 and six clearances) led the way at Arden Street.

Winger Eloise Jones (20 disposals, seven intercepts) ran hard both ways, while Bates (23 disposals, seven clearances) showed a week off did her no harm.

FORWARDS

Kara Antonio (Fremantle), Gemma Houghton (Fremantle), Tayla Harris (Melbourne), Chloe Molloy (Collingwood), Erin Phillips (Adelaide)

Harris (three goals) returned to her best against St Kilda, Phillips (18 disposals, eight marks) was tough to beat, while Molloy (two goals) broke through for her first majors of the year.

Antonio and Houghton (two goals apiece) were key architects of Fremantle's record-breaking performance against Richmond.

INTERCHANGE

Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Hayley Miller (Fremantle), Lauren Pearce (Melbourne), Maddy Prespakis (Carlton)

Two All Australians in Marinoff (23 disposals, six tackles) and Prespakis (27 disposals, four clearances) were unsurprisingly some of the best players afield in their matches, while Miller (14, 1.1) just got the nod ahead of Mon Conti in the coaches' votes.

Kerryn Harrington (21 disposals, seven intercepts) saw far more of the footy than she would have liked, while Pearce (20 hitouts, 13 disposals, one goal) was a dominant force against St Kilda in the ruck.
