GABBBY Collingwood's worst fears have been confirmed with the luckless Brisbane forward rupturing her right ACL and MCL in her return game on Saturday.
Collingwood sat on the sidelines for over 700 days after injuring her left ACL in 2020, finally returning to the side for the Lions' round four match against Geelong in Maroochydore.
The fairytale comeback wasn't to be as Collingwood went down with a fresh injury in her opposite knee during the first quarter as she contested a ground ball inside 50.
Brisbane head of women's football Breanna Brock has described the injury as "difficult news to swallow" but confirmed the club and Collingwood's teammates were supporting her through this fresh blow.
It comes three weeks after the club lost premiership defender Kate Lutkins to the same injury.
The Lions are currently in sixth place after back-to-back wins following their opening-round loss to Adelaide.
