GOLD Coast has been dealt a massive blow with defender Jade Pregelj ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing her ACL.
The 30-year-old injured her knee in the first half of Sunday's thrilling win over Richmond on Sunday.
Suns AFLW physiotherapist Jasmine Herlihy said scans early this week had confirmed the worst for the inaugural Gold Coast player.
"Jade had an MRI yesterday and unfortunately that's shown us that she's got an ACL tear so she will be out for the rest of the season unfortunately," Herlihy told the club's website.
"She is going to consult with a specialist this week and then we'll see what management we want to go ahead with."
Head of women's football Fiona Sessarago said the club would fully support Pregelj in her rehabilitation.
"It's absolutely devastating news for Jade who is a much-loved teammate and has been so important for the club over our first three seasons," Sessarago said.

"Jade is one of the toughest players at the Suns and we have full confidence she will attack her rehab to come back stronger than ever."
Pregelj hasn't previously missed a game for the Suns, playing in all 19 matches in the club's history.
The Suns sit in seventh spot on the AFLW ladder, just percentage outside of the top six.
