COLLINGWOOD has promoted nuggety VFLW midfielder Olivia Meagher to its AFLW list.

The 19-year-old former Eastern Ranges skipper will replace young winger Joanna Lin, who has been ruled inactive for the season with a shoulder injury.

Meagher was a member of the 2019 and 2020 AFLW Academies, and while the 159cm player is primarily an inside midfielder, she can play a pressure role up forward or in defence.

She returned to NAB League level when the competition was expanded to include under-19s in 2021, before becoming a fixture for the Pies' VFLW team as the year progressed.

"We're delighted to have Olivia join us as a replacement player in 2022," Collingwood's head of women's footy Jess Burger said.

"Having been involved in our women's football program for some time now, Olivia has developed strong relationships within our club and is well respected amongst the group.

"This is a great opportunity for Olivia to take her game to the next level and we look forward to watching her further develop as a player and person in our program."

Lin had an encouraging debut season, playing nine of a possible 11 games, but underwent shoulder surgery after a dislocation late last year.

"We're all extremely disappointed for Jo," Burger said.

"Even though she won't be on the field this year, we know she'll continue to bring great energy and will remain a strong support to our group. As part of our Collingwood family, we will work extremely closely with Jo to ensure she is well supported during her rehabilitation."

Meagher will wear No.28.
