THIS WEEKEND'S match between Greater Western Sydney and St Kilda has been postponed, with the Giants unable to field a side due to AFL health and safety protocols.

It's the second week in a row St Kilda has lost a match due to an opposition hit by COVID-19, but the Saints will play a make-up game against West Coast on Tuesday, February 8 at Trevor Barker Oval at 5.10pm AEDT.

The Saints-Eagles clash will be considered as part of round five, with the AFL recently ruling a round would count from Wednesday to the following Tuesday, with teams able to play multiple games per round if necessary.

Several games have also had their dates or times altered:

  • Western Bulldogs v Richmond has moved from Saturday night to Sunday at 1.10pm AEDT
  • Melbourne v Gold Coast has moved from Sunday to Saturday at 7.10pm AEDT
  • North Melbourne v Fremantle will still be played on Sunday, but will now start at 5.10pm AEDT, having initially been scheduled for 1.10pm

The Giants had at least six players – Bec Privitelli, Katie Loynes, Pepa Randall, Chloe Dalton, Tait Mackrill and Georgia Garnett – ruled out under the protocols for their big win over the Western Bulldogs last Friday night.

"While the ongoing pandemic continues to impact and challenge our competition and our wider community, we want to thank every AFLW Club, players and the AFLPA, umpires, venues, governments, ticketing agents and all supporters for their understanding and commitment to the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s Competition," AFL general manager competition management Laura Kane said.

"The fixture remains a week-to-week proposition and the AFL will continue to work closely with respective state governments and health authorities on arrangements that both protects the health and safety of the community and allows us to progress the NAB AFLW season."
