ADELAIDE is breathing a sigh of relief after scans on Sunday revealed that superstar Erin Phillips suffered nothing more serious than a sprain to her left knee.

Phillips was hurt during the final term of the Crows' thumping 40-point win over Greater Western Sydney.

The 36-year-old pulled in a strong contested mark while grappling with Giant Pepa Randall, and while she didn't go to ground, came away from the contest hobbling and opted to handball instead of kick.

The incident occurred halfway through the fourth quarter, and she played no further part in the match.

The club has not yet put a timeline on her return but was thankful the injury wasn't as bad as first feared.

"Erin is a professional in every sense of the word and will give herself every chance to come back as quickly as possible," Women's Head of Football Phil Harper said.

"We'll monitor her progress in the coming days before determining a return to play date."

Phillips has had a history of knee injuries, rupturing her left ACL in the 2019 AFLW Grand Final, and undergoing an arthroscope on the same knee at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

It was her second ACL tear, having previously suffered the injury in her right knee while playing basketball in 2007.

Teammate Stevie-Lee Thompson was a late withdrawal from the match, having pulled up with a tight hamstring during the warm-up.
