WESTERN Bulldogs star forward Izzy Huntington will await the result of scans after suffering what appears to be a serious right knee injury against Melbourne.

Huntington had attempted to turn back to chase the footy before dropping to the ground, and was taken straight down the race by trainers, bypassing the interchange bench.

Huntington, 22, was the No.1 pick in the 2017 NAB AFLW Draft, and has an extensive injury history.

She has suffered torn ACLs in both knees, and has also broken her right leg.

A highly talented key position player, she has been named All-Australian in defence and has also led the competition in contested marks as a forward.

"Nothing confirmed, obviously it was a right leg injury. I haven't sat down with the docs yet, all I got during the game was 'Izzy is no good'," coach Nathan Burke said in his post-match press conference.

"Your mind starts to wander to different things. I haven't caught up with them yet, but she's got a history of knee injuries. We'll just have to wait and see and keep our fingers crossed.

"There's a bunch of players who have just got to know Izzy and they love her, and then there's a bunch of players who have been with her right from the start with those sorts of (injury) issues.

"So there's different reasons for the sympathy, but they'll gather around her, and whatever comes of it, they'll support her to the hilt."
