THE WESTERN Bulldogs and West Coast will play two games in five days as the AFL seeks to condense the NAB AFLW fixture in response to the Western Australia border changes.

Collingwood and Fremantle will play in a twilight match this Thursday at Victoria Park, with GWS and the Bulldogs' clash switched from Sunday to Friday twilight.

The Dogs will then back up against Fremantle at VU Whitten Oval on Tuesday night – in a game shifted from round 10 – while the Pies will take on the Eagles in a twilight affair at Victoria Park on the same day (shifted from round six).

The extra games have been classified by the AFL as "additional games", rather than rounds four or five.

Suitable broadcast lighting at night is an issue at Victoria Park, hence the twilight slots.

The WA state government last week announced it would not open its borders on February 5 as first planned due to COVID-19 outbreaks around the country.

Both Fremantle and West Coast had previously agreed to temporarily shift to Victoria for a three-week stint, and given players' and coaches' external work and family commitments, the AFL is keen to stick to that schedule.

The Western Bulldogs have two games to make up after a COVID-19 outbreak hit the club, rendering player numbers so low a team could not be fielded.
