ADELAIDE skipper Chelsea Randall is unlikely to play this week due to a right hamstring strain, and the Crows have not put a timeline on her return.

Randall sat out round three with an issue with the same hamstring, but after training strongly returned in round four, where she subsequently pulled up sore during the game.

The Crows are the only undefeated side in the competition, so there is no need to rush back the versatile All-Australian.

Small defender Dayna Cox (hamstring) is 1-2 weeks away from playing her first game for the season.

North Melbourne winger Kaitlyn Ashmore will miss a second week with a hamstring complaint, while defender Dani Hardiman (general soreness) is a test.

Melbourne midfielder Maddi Gay suffered a quad injury at training last week, and will be sidelined for a further 3-4 weeks, while winger Casey Sherriff will sit out round five due to concussion.

Tyla Hanks has cleared the health and safety protocols, and big recruit Liv Purcell (ACL) is just one week away after successfully returning through the VFLW.

Randall isn't the only captain sidelined for this weekend, with Collingwood skipper Steph Chiocci ruled out again as she battles a troublesome Achilles.

She is currently in a moonboot to reduce load on the tendon, having already sat out rounds three and four due to the issue.

Gold Coast best and fairest Lauren Ahrens has escaped serious injury after getting her leg caught in a tackle, with scans showing a small tear to a "deep hip muscle".

Having recovered well, she will be a test for this week, in a boon to a backline which has already lost key defender Jade Pregelj to a torn ACL.

Kalinda Howarth is also a test with a minor shoulder injury suffered against Melbourne.

Speedster Tori Groves-Little has cleared concussion protocols, while the inactive Annise Bradfield has returned to contact training in her recovery from a knee reconstruction.

Geelong has confirmed first-year defender Annabel Johnson has suffered a season-ending fracture to her left foot.

Tough Brisbane defender Shannon Campbell will miss this weekend due to concussion, suffered in a collision with Pie Jaimee Lambert when both were diving for the footy.

The incident was subsequently cleared by the MRO.

Top draftee Maggie Harmer remains at least a fortnight away, dealing with a foot injury.

Keeley Sherar remains a week or two away from returning from a broken hand for Carlton, while fellow draftee Brooke Vickers is available for selection after suffering an ankle injury against Adelaide.

The Western Bulldogs are inching closer to having a full-strength backline at their disposal after an injury-hit pre-season, with Ellyse Gamble one week away from returning from an ankle injury.

Deanna Berry (ACL) and Hannah Scott (quad) are a couple of weeks further back, while Gemma Lagioia needs to pass concussion protocols in order to be available for selection this week.

Elle Bennetts is dealing with a calf niggle, and is more likely for next week rather than this round.

Earlier this week, Richmond confirmed Hannah Burchell (ACL) and Laura McClelland (syndesmosis) would join Harriet Cordner (ACL) on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

Full-forward Courtney Wakefield (dislocated shoulder) has not yet been completely ruled out for the year, while Christina Bernardi (knee soreness), Ingrid Houtsma (calf) and Kate Dempsey (ankle) are tests for this week.

West Coast has just one injury, with Aisling McCarthy ruled out for the season with a fractured wrist.

St Kilda midfielder Rosie Dillon is a test for this weekend, having tweaked her ankle against West Coast.

Nat Exon (leg) is now available for selection.

Bec Beeson is steadily making a return from an ankle injury, but the Giant is set to face a further 2-3 weeks on the sidelines and is expected to miss around six weeks in total.

Teammate Tarni Evans (foot) is gradually building her training loads, returning to some team drills, and is expected to return to match-type simulations in the coming weeks.
