EMERGING Fremantle forward Mikayla Morrison will miss the remainder of the 2022 season after rupturing her ACL at training on Tuesday.
Morrison made her debut against the Western Bulldogs earlier this year and has played four games, highlighted by a three-goal performance against Carlton in round six which earned her a NAB Rising Star nomination.
"It’s incredibly disappointing that Mikayla will miss the rest of the season, after bursting onto the AFLW scene," Fremantle's head of football operations and performance Bob Murphy told the club website.
"Mikayla was looking forward to finishing off the year strongly as we approach the upcoming AFLW finals series.
"We will make a decision in due course on when Mikayla will undertake surgery and begin her rehabilitation process. The entire Club will wrap our arms around Mikayla and support her through this time."
It's not the first setback the 20-year-old has encountered. Drafted at No.30 in the 2020 draft, Morrison was on track to debut in round one last year before she was struck down with appendicitis and hospitalised.
