Brabazon made the big move from Western Australia after he was picked at number 59 in the 2005 AFL Draft.
The Claremont junior made his AFL debut against the Western Bulldogs in round 18 last year, and has a strong desire to get back into the seniors side.
“It was good to get a taste of it, and it leaves me wanting more. I really want to get some more games now.”
Brabazon was named in the Reserves’ best on the weekend against Ainslie for the fourth time in seven matches this season.
The 22-year-old is hoping to continue his good form and push for a call up in the seniors side.
“I’d like to definitely crack into the seniors team, but I’ve got to start by playing well in the Reserves over the next few weeks, with performances that hopefully put my name up for selection.” Brabazon said.
And he’s been doing everything he can in order to get a start.
“I’ve been trying to work on my deficiencies, trying to work hard on those things, to better my football to try and play seniors. “ He said.
Growing up as a West Coast fan, Ben Cousins was amongst Brabazon’s favourite players, but he’s added a few more names to the list since he’s been at the Swans.
“I’ve been mentored by Adam Goodes and Jarrad McVeigh, so I look up to those guys…They’re both really knowledgeable people and obviously really good footballers so they help out a lot.” He said.
Brabazon has been part of two Reserves premierships, including last year’s one point win over Belconnen, in which he was named as one of the best players.
“That was a big thrill…it was a really good win. It was a good experience, and good for the footy Club.” He said.
And after experiencing the highs, Brabazon is hoping that the team’s 2009 form can turn around soon.
“I think over the next few weeks there should be some improvements, we’ve talked a lot about what we need to start doing…so hopefully over the next few weeks we can start to improve a bit more.” Brabazon said.
After last week’s 29-point loss to Ainslie, Brabazon hopes the team can put in an improved performance against ladder leaders Eastlake.
“They’ve really challenged us and played well against us in the past couple of times we’ve played them. So going into this week we’ve just got to bring a better game than what we brought last week against Ainslie because we’ve got to put a good performance on the board.
“It’s been a pretty disappointing start to the year so far, so this could be the turning point this weekend.” He said.
The Reserves take on Eastlake at 9.45am in the curtain raiser to the Swans v Port Adelaide match at the SCG on Sunday.
