INTERIM coach Scott Camporeale is enjoying his time at the helm of Adelaide but will wait until the end of the year to decide whether he wants to remain there in 2016.
The 40-year-old started the season as the Crows' midfield coach but was forced into the interim senior role when Phil Walsh tragically died in early July.
The club has won three of five games under Camporeale, raising his prospects of staying on in the position next season.
He's yet to confirm one way or the other whether he'll apply for the job, and with Adelaide right on the brink of finals qualification, his attention is focused on the final four games of the season.
Once the Crows are done will he decide if he wants to coach in 2016.
"It'll be the end of the year. As we keep saying, our sole focus is to make sure we keep winning and whatever happens after that we'll decide at the end of the year," Camporeale said.
"It's always a challenge, I guess, being in the hot seat, but I've really enjoyed it - we've had a couple of wins along the way and that always helps.
"When you become senior coach you're more broad, you have to spread yourself across all 45 players … I definitely have built more stronger relationships with a lot more guys.
"I had a really good mentor in Phil to show me how to do it."
Adelaide won't speak to candidates from rival clubs until their respective seasons are over.
The same panel that selected Walsh as coach last year will appoint his replacement – CEO Andrew Fagan, football director Mark Ricciuto, head of football David Noble and long-time development coach Alan Stewart, all reporting to chairman Rob Chapman.
The panel has met several times already to discuss the type of attributes they want in the new coach, but Fagan told the club's website no timeline had been placed on the selection process.
"We will make an announcement as soon as we have found the right person. We have not set a deadline, nor do we feel as though we must rush because there is another club active in the market place," he said.
"Furthermore, we will respect the current obligations of potential candidates and that may delay some conversations until completion of respective finals campaigns.
"There is still plenty of research, assessment and conversation that will take place during this period so that we will be able to finalise the process shortly after completely our final interviews."
The Crows venture to Etihad Stadium on Saturday to take on Essendon, with a win crucial if they're to keep pushing for the top eight.
Camporeale has been content with the attitude of the playing group after last Friday's big win over Richmond but cautioned that any slump would see the side hammered by the under-fire Bombers.
