Collingwood young gun Dayne Beams believes Collingwood is ready to tackle this year’s finals campaign, four weeks out from the start of September.??
Speaking in the MCG rooms after the 48-point win over Carlton, Beams stated the side was working in unison which has been a key to its recent success.??
“It’s that pointy end of the season now and we are all getting a bit edgy to play finals,” Beams told collingwoodfc.com.au.??
“We all have to make sure we are on the ball and keep winning games.”? ?
Beams, who played as a half forward against the Blues, has now booted 20 goals from 17 games this season. The 20-year-old was named the Peter MacCallum medalist with his 28 disposal, six tackle and three goal performance.??
“I had to try and work up the ground while looking to crumb the ball.
“It’s a tough role but it’s one that I enjoy and if you get in the right spots you can get a lot of the footy.”??
The Magpies have now scored over the ton mark in their last five matches and boasted five multiple goal scores on Saturday afternoon.??
“Bucks has all the structures down pat up forward. Everyone plays their role and that’s the strength of the team at the moment.??
“They (Carlton) are a team fighting to be in the eight and we are a team trying to consolidate our spot in the top four so we know they build themselves up for the game and we had to respond well.??
“The boys were really switched on from the word go and it was a fantastic win.”
