I’ve just come off the massage table. We get two massages every week, one for recovery and one to get us ready for games, and they’re around 45 minutes each.

It sounds great, doesn’t it….but with these massages there’s no soft relaxing music or dimmed lights.

You’re lying on a table on the first floor of our offices at the SCG, surrounded by a bunch of other blokes who are being massaged too, and there are lots of people coming and going.

And they are not the sort of massages that send you off to sleep. The pressure is very firm, and it’s much more pain than pleasure. It’s not a tickle because they really have to get into your sore spots.

Some of the guys handle it worse than others. Daniel Currie is usually jumping all over the bench, squirming around and squealing as the masseurs do their stuff and dig in deep.

Rhyce Shaw has got a thing for foot massages. After a game, when most of us get work on our legs and upper body, Rhyce just wants his sore feet rubbed for half an hour. If he’s played well, there’s usually no complaints.

We’ve got four masseurs at the Club and they’re all great. Today most of the work was on my hamstrings and calves to make sure I don’t cramp during tomorrow night’s pre-season game against Carlton at Blacktown.

It’s really exciting to think we’ll be playing our first game tomorrow night. It will be a good test, and finally we get to play as one team, rather than against each other.

This afternoon I’ll just try to stay off my legs and rest up for tomorrow. Some of the guys like to go to the beach, but I like staying at home on the couch, usually watching sport on tv - I get into a bit of trouble at home because I watch so much!

I’ve been tuning into the Winter Olympics this week. American snowboarder Shaun White was amazing, just seeing how much higher he got than the other competitors.

I love watching all sports, and especially love soccer. My dad’s family was from Liverpool, so I barrack for them.

Anyway, tomorrow night I hope you’re all barracking for us as we try to get off to a good start to season 2010. I can’t wait!
