AFTER 12 rounds and going into the mid-season break, most clubs will be assessing their season to date.

As a team, we at the Swans are very positive about where we stand, with seven wins and five losses, and in particular our form during the past two games.

No doubt our strong start to the season held us in good stead leading to the break. Being five wins and one loss after six rounds was a great start and well-deserved.

However during the following few rounds we appeared to be a different side, shying away from parts of our game that had taken us to the top of the ladder.

It was a very scary thought that we might go into the break at six (wins) and six (losses), or even worse, a negative win-loss ratio after such a promising start to the season. So, those last two games were so important.

We were able to recapture some of our earlier form against the Bombers, which saw us back on the winners’ board with a well fought victory. To back this up against Port Adelaide was very encouraging and will hopefully give the team some real momentum going into the second half of the year.

So I guess in reflecting upon the season so far, you could conclude that it has been a rollercoaster of wins, losses and wins again, but overall there are a many positives to draw on throughout the next block of challenges that confront us.

For the moment though, I’m heading home to Melbourne for a few days and looking forward to seeing the family, taking it easy, enjoying Mum’s cooking and freshening up before the second phases of the season begins.
