RYAN Schoenmakers reinjured his groin in his return to football a fortnight ago in the VFL and will not play at any level this weekend.
It is the second consecutive week he will miss, with Box Hill having a bye last week.
Schoenmakers, 25, lined up in Hawthorn's opening three matches of the season before suffering what Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson described as a "grumbly groin".
Hawthorn takes on Melbourne on Saturday afternoon at the MCG, while Box Hill faces North Ballarat this Sunday.
The forward's inability to stay on the park comes after news that Jarryd Roughead will miss 12 months of football as he receives treatment for cancer.
Fellow tall Matthew Spangher will also miss 8-10 weeks as he recovers from a hamstring tear.
