FREMANTLE coach Mark Harvey has dismissed speculation that contracted ruckman Aaron Sandilands is looking for a trade and told rival clubs they were "wasting their time" trying to snatch the All-Australian big man.

Sandilands, 26, is contracted to Fremantle until the end of the 2010 season, but speculation continues that the competition's tallest player wants out.

Hawthorn has been mentioned as the most persistent suitor for Sandilands, but Harvey said no combination of players or draft picks could tempt Fremantle to part with the 211cm giant.

"I think the Hawthorn players would be interested to know that they've got so much money in their salary cap to spare, that's what I think," Harvey said from Fremantle Oval on Wednesday.

"As far as Aaron goes, he's contracted until next year.

"People can talk and speculate as much as they like at the moment ... trade week's in about two months' time.

"What I would say to every other club out there is, 'Forget about talking about Aaron Sandilands, because you're wasting your time."

Harvey also admitted the speculation had been a distraction to his group, but he said he hadn't felt the need to talk to Sandilands about it.

"It's quite easy to create innuendo or rumours or manufacture stories at football clubs right at this very time because we're coming to the end of the year," he said.

"And that just appears to be happening a little bit too much with us.

"I'm officially here to end it. All of our experienced players – bar Paul (Hasleby) – are contracted to the end of next year.

"We've got a young and exciting team coming along and what you'll find I think is maybe some of the other players from other clubs might want to join Fremantle."

After a stellar season that has seen him average more than 32 hit-outs a game, Sandilands is favoured to win All-Australian selection again this year but as the lead ruckman.

He earned honours in 2008 and was runner-up in Fremantle's best-and-fairest count.
