ST KILDA has named Luke Ball and Matt Maguire, Andrew Raines is back for Richmond, the Brisbane Lions are set to unveil Daniel Rich, and David Mundy will captain Fremantle after the squads for this weekend's NAB Cup fixtures were announced on Thursday.

The Saints travel to the Gold Coast for their clash against the Lions on Saturday night with Ball, Maguire and Michael Gardiner all looking to put injury-interrupted seasons behind them.

Nick Riewoldt, Steven Baker, Adam Schneider, Lenny Hayes and Jason Gram are some of the notable absentees while Colm Begley, Nick Heyne, Zac Dawson, Farren Ray and Tom Simpkin will all be hoping to make their debuts for the club.

The Lions will be without skipper Jonathan Brown for the match, but look set to unveil Rich, who they were delighted snap up seventh overall at last year's NAB AFL Draft.

Fellow new boys Aaron Cornelius, Jack Redden and Adam Spackman have also been named in the extended squad, which looks reasonably strong despite the absence of experienced hands Simon Black, Daniel Merrett and Daniel Bradshaw.

Fremantle's squad has a youthful flavor, with excitement machine Stephen Hill leading a band of potential debutants including Jay van Berlo, Matt deBoer, Clancee Pearce, Chris Hall and Tim Ruffles.

Paul Hasleby has been named for Sunday's clash at Subiaco and will be hoping to make a sound return from a knee injury that kept him sidelined all last season.

Mundy will lead the side in the absence of Matthew Pavlich, whose presence in an attack also missing Chris Tarrant will be missed.

As expected the Tigers will ease Ben Cousins into the second phase of his career at Punt Road and will not make the trip west for Chris Newman's first match as skipper.

Raines is also on the comeback trail from injury after a horror 2008 and will be hoping to take his place in a strong side that could feature Matthew Richardson, Nathan Brown, Nathan Foley and Brett Deledio to name a few.

Kane Johnson, Trent Cotchin and Will Thursfield are notable absentees. 

The 29-man squads named will be reduced to 26-player final teams on Friday.
