Things were looking up for Ben Ross at the start of the season. Brad Scott's promotion of youth meant more opportunities for a player who'd previously struggled to secure a spot in the senior side.

After a promising performance in round one, when he racked up 18 possessions and was named in his team's best, Ross quickly found himself on the outer. He was relegated to the VFL following North's big loss to St Kilda and would spend the next month at the lower level.

While he continued to dominate and accumulate possessions, there were more pressing issues for the line-breaking midfielder with a hip complaint only getting worse as the season progressed.

Eventually the call was made for him to go under the knife in a bid to get his body right for 2011.

Now the pressure is on the number 15 to deliver.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says:
Started in the side and played two games before a nagging hip injury killed his season. Still only 21 and contracted for next year but some of his teammates, including Leigh Adams and Cruize Garlett, have gone past him.

Ross has been very unlucky with that nagging hip injury buggering up his season. Hope he manages to break in to the senior team again.
