Visy Park has been a hive of activity today as the final touches are completed in readiness for tonight’s official opening of the $19.5 million redevelopment.

Carlton President Stephen Kernahan will be joined by Minister for Sport, Recreation and Youth Affairs, James Merlino and City of Melbourne Lord Mayor to officially open the state of the art facilities at Visy Park this evening.

300 VIP guests will be in attendance at the opening that will include exclusive tours of the facilities prior to the official opening at 7:50pm. Carlton players will be involved in these tours providing guests with information on the various areas within Visy Park, including the locker room, aquatic rehabilitation area and the Don Chipp lecture theatre that will be set up as the Visy Sustainable Centre for tonight’s opening.

At the conclusion of the tours, Stephen Kernahan, James Merlino and Robert Doyle will be joined on by other guests, including Brett Ratten and Chris Judd as part of the official opening.  Guests will then enjoy the entertainment on the outside stage by Mike Brady, the Qantas Choir and John Paul Young.

While tonight’s official opening is specifically to acknowledge organisations and individuals who have supported this project, Sunday will provide an opportunity for everyone to see the state of the art facilities first hand.

Carlton supporters will be able to get a behind the scenes look at the new Visy Park at the Hyundai Blues Family Day this Sunday, February 14th. The Family Day at Visy Park commences at 11:00am, concluding at 2:00pm and will include tours of the new facilities.
