CARLTON stars Jarrad Waite and Andrew Carrazzo have been ruled out of Saturday's much anticipated clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

Waite was subbed out of Carlton's loss to the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening after he suffered groin soreness.

Scans on Monday confirmed Waite damaged the cartilage in his hip and he will consult with a specialist on Tuesday to determine if surgery is needed.

At this stage, he is expected to be sidelined for up to a month.

The 23-year-old, who has played 143 AFL games since making his debut in 2003, has had a wretched run with injuries in recent times.

He missed a large part of the 2009 season after seriously injuring his knee, and earlier this year spent three weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring strain.

Carrazzo withdrew from the match against the Bulldogs after injuring his calf at training on Saturday morning.

He should be fit to return for the Blues' round 18 meeting with Essendon at the MCG.
