A huge thanks to everyone for their responses and ongoing support for this season’s open invite to help Senior Coach Michael Voss resurrect the 'Liiiooonnnsss' chant that was so powerful in his heyday during the team’s premiership years.

And grateful acknowledgements to our small but hardy (and vocal!) group of ‘Chant Champion’ volunteers in their specially marked clash guernseys for leading the chant in their section of the stadium throughout our first three home games.

The Liiiooonnnsss chant seems to be growing in strength with every game as more fans become familiar with the idea and witness more people around them joining in the chorus after each Lions goal and at the start of each quarter.

Therefore, we are making a second call for additional ‘Chant Champions’ from our new and existing fan base - and especially from those people who’ve emailed us directly with their expression of interest and ideas on how to keep the chant chugging along.

The Lions genuinely appreciate all barracking no matter what style it takes, but feel the ‘Liiiooonnnsss’ chant is more specific to us than the ‘Lions (clap) (clap) (clap)’ which many clubs across all sporting codes have already adopted simply by substituting their name before the claps.

In addition, the initial request from the Senior Coach to bring back the famous chant was met with surprisingly strong support when the related article was first posted on our website and included in our weekly Club e-newsletter.

So interested members and supporters who would be happy to join our squadron of Chant Champions to lead the Liiiooonnnsss chant in their Gabba section are warmly invited to email us at club@lions.com.au with their contact details.

Michael Voss will also be involved in the filming of a Gabba replay screen announcement surrounding the Liiiooonnnsss chant and our new band of Chant Champions.

Members and supporters who would have heard our ground announcers' calls to Lions fans and seen our bright maroon placards on match nights at the Gabba are invited to chant Liiiooonnnsss:

* After each Lions goal
* At the beginning of each quarter
* And any time you feel the players could benefit from your vocal support.

So please volunteer if you would like to get involved or keep an eye out on Saturday night the 8th of May against those high-flying Fremantle Dockers at the Gabba in Round 7 (tickets already on sale via Ticketmaster) to become part of what Vossy hopes will become a permanent match-winning tradition.

GO LIONS!!!
