BRISBANE Lions vice-captain Daniel Rich has signed a three-year deal and will be at the club until at least the end of 2016.

The news comes just one week after the Lions signed coveted ruckman Matthew Leuenberger to a further two years.

Drafted by the Lions with pick No.7 in the 2008 AFL National Draft, Rich won the AFL Rising Star award in his first season.

After a couple of inconsistent seasons he produced his best year for the club in 2012, finishing runner-up to Joel Patfull in the best and fairest.

The 23-year-old suffered a fractured scapula earlier this season, but has played two matches since his return and was instrumental in last Sunday's miraculous win over Geelong with 25 disposals and two goals.

Lions general manager of football operations Dean Warren, said it was fantastic news for the club.

"It speaks volumes for both the club and our football program that Daniel has committed to the Lions for another three years," Warren said.

Irishman Pearce Hanley is also out of contract at the end of the season but is expected to re-sign shortly.
